Marjon Mossammaparast
Marjon Mossammaparast is a teacher and poet from Melbourne.
Her first collection of poetry, That Sight (Cordite Books), won the 2019 Mary Gilmore Award, was shortlisted for the 2019 Queensland Literary Awards and was commended in the 2018 Anne Elder Award. Her second volume, And to Ecstasy, was released in March 2022 through Upswell Publishing, and was shortlisted for the 2023 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards (Kenneth Slessor Poetry Award).
Marjon was born in Iran and started her formal schooling in Italy, having fled religious persecution. She migrated to Australia with her family in 1986.
